1. Go over the work we will have on Tuesday--Compare/contrast the two stories "Rules of the Game" and "Two Kinds" in 2-3 paragraphs. First, make a Venn Diagram, and then use it to write your paragraphs.
2.Take out your stories with your annotations--work on the character map worksheet (both sides) for Jing-Mei (look at your notes for Waverly)
3. Work on the pink worksheet about "sympathies" towards the characters/vocabulary in context.
4. Finish questions, if not in class, at home.
5. Quiz on Tuesday--Read a passage by Amy Tan, answer mult. choice questions (approx. 5)

How to Annotate a text
1.  Underline/highlight words/sentences you know you will want to use later.
2. Write in the margin at the top or bottom of the page to record questions/answers you have.
3.  Summarize paragraphs in the side margins.
4. Star ideas that seem important, or may support your thesis writing later (*)
5. Box or circle words and phrases that you do not know or that you find confusing. Rewrite a word or phrase you might have figured out.
6. Add an arrow to make connections between points.
7. Put a question mark next to a section you 're questioning (?)
8. Use an exclamation mark for areas that remind you of another test, strike you in some way, or surprise you. (!)
