1. Explain the influence of women in the plot? Vivian, Ms. Emma, and Tante Lou. How are they important to Grant and Jefferson and influence the decision making of the men in the story? Give examples.
2. Why might Ms. Emma want to have Jefferson meet in the dayroom instead of his cell?
Think about his behavior and progress so far.
3. On pg. 123 Tante Lou tells Grant," You ain't going to run away from this, Grant," referring to quitting on Jefferson. What do you think she is really referring to---what has Grant quit on before or why does he seem to give up quite often. Think about his attitude towards his life.

1.Mrs.Emma, Vivan and Tante Lou important to grant and jefferson with their decison making of the men because the women are their inspiration. They look up to the women as thier inspiration.
2.Mrs.Emma want to meet jefferson in the day room because their aint enough room for them sit in cell. They do not want him so depressed sitting his cell. So they wanted to move to the day room.
3.Grant always want to quit his live hiss job and quit workingwith jefferson because he is not making any type of progress.

1.I think the women are important to jeffersom and grant for example tante lou tries to motivate grant into making the right decisions and so he can help motivate jefferson and not making him feel bad for himself.
2.I think mrs.Emma wants to meet jefferson in the day room so he can clear his head instead of staying in the dark cell all day
3.I think tante lou is saying that grant has no patients and he is willing to give up on anything if it's not making progress or working the way he wants it
