Caesar doesn't read the warning note and they stab him. As Brutus thrusts in his knife, Caesar says, "You too Brutus?" Marc Antony, flees. Brutus persuades the conspirators to allow Antony to live and speak at Caesar's funeral. Antony pretends to be loyal to them.
Brutus speaks to a gathering of citizens at the public forum in order to explain the conspirators' actions. He succeeds and the people love him. Antony gives his speech next and turns the crowd against them and encourages them to kill the conspirators. (they are easily swayed)
Rome is in upheaval. The mobs are out of control.
