monologue--(mono=one)
  • a prolonged talk by a single character, 
  • directed to the audience, 
  • other characters may be around
soliloquy--
  • involves one character
  • typically alone on stage.
  • speaking their thoughts aloud
  • they are not talking to the audience
  • but the audience can hear their thoughts
  • talking to yourself by yourself!
